Is this you?

In many ways you are highly successful but deep down you feel something is not quite right. You have a sense that experiences in your childhood are impacting your relationships, the way you parent, and the way you see yourself. Even more, recent changes in your life — your relationship, job, or COVID-19 pandemic — seem harder to adjust to than you expected. You find yourself getting frustrated more easily. It’s been harder to keep up with all your responsibilities, and you can literally feel the tension in your body. You are ready to look inward to gain healing insights, get unstuck and regain control over your life.

My Approach to Wellness

What are 5 words clients use to describe you?

Clients describe me as warm, compassionate, perceptive, guiding, “filled with mic-drop moments”

I Specialize in working with people who...

I specialize in the guidance along the cycle breaker to cycle maker journey! Individuals who are the first in their family to achieve at high levels, move into leadership, heal from or avoid an intergenerational pattern typically find my guidance most transformational. The clients I work with could right the book on wellness in theory, but knowing better and doing better are two very different things. In our work together, clients are able to get out of their heads, into their heart space, so they can take SUSTAINABLE action in their holistic mental health journey. They value a mind-body-soul approach to wellness and are ready to move beyond the limitations of a medicalized mental health model that hyper emphasizes illness so they can embrace their highest-aligned self in their personal, professional and spiritual lives.

How would you describe therapy to someone who has never been to therapy before?

How would you describe therapy to someone who has never been to therapy before?
Therapy is a journey of coming home to the fact that you, as you are, is not just good enough, but just what the world needs. It is also the place were we learn to fall deeper and deeper in love with our wholeness, explore resources for identifying and overcoming the tricksters that colonialism, cultural agreements and outdated storylines tend to play on our ability to connect with that worthiness. It is a place we learn to settle into feeling resourced, expanding expression of the full range of your emotions, tending to the wisdom of your body, sharpening intuitions, following the call of spirit, and so much more.

What holistic practices do you incorporate into session?

What holistic practices do you incorporate into session?
Yes. lol… I am certified in crystal sound bowl techniques, sound medicine, breathwork, yoga (300 hr YTT), Mindfulness meditation, Somatic integration, Christian Counseling, energy healing certificates including Reiki, Chakra balancing, and more. Some of this stuff sound too “woo woo” for you? No worries. We utilize the practices that feel supportive and accessible to you.

If someone was on the fence about therapy what would you say to encourage them to get started?

If someone was on the fence about therapy what would you say to encourage them to get started.
There was a time where I was skeptical about therapy. Raised in a Caribbean household, therapy was one of the LAST I thought of for my self and my family. However, when things got difficult, I took a chance on something new, and therapy changed my life, more than once! Now I think of therapy as a normal part of my holistic wellness, alongside faith practices, physical health checkups, and good belly laughs loved ones. If you’re on the fence, I’d say it’s normal to have hesitations. But if you KNEW that on the other side of it your life, your family’s life, would be changed for the better, would it be worth it to you to give it a try? Let’s talk about your concerns during your first session!

About Me

Identities I'd like to share

Identify as a Cis Gender, Black Woman. I am a mom, former single mom, now married to my husband of several years. I am a daughter to aging and elderly parents. I am 1 1/2 generation American, with my mother emigrating to the United States from Jamaica when she was several months pregnant with me. I am a child of God.

My Story

Social work found me when I was on a journey of finding myself and figuring out what was going on in my own family system. As the youngest child of 8 siblings and the first in my family to be born in the United states, I grew up with an American context at school and a deeply Caribbean context at home, church. Whereas there was so much I loved about my family and culture, I also found myself navigating family secrets and undiagnosed family mental health that left many questions left unanswered.

Unbeknownst to be I set off in search for those answers through education, performing at the top of my class, in buying into the cultural narrative of “doctor, lawyer, nurse or nobody”  I pursed pre-medicine in school. During this time, I pursed neuroscience and behavior and fell in love with exploration of the mind-body connection. Several other key experiences during this time exposed be to psychosocial wellness for youth, which eventually led me to pursue a master’s degree in clinical social work to become a psychotherapist.

My foundational training as a therapist was in the field of infant and maternal mental health. These experiences allowed me to intimately weave the thread between ic traumatic experiences in childhood and the implication if unaddressed in adulthood. It is this insight and experience, alongside 100’s of hours of post graduate training and education that allows me to walk alongside clients today as they courageously make sense of how their childhood’s and early life experiences shape the story they’re telling themselves about who they are and update outdate storylines. I loved this work so much that I founded Healing Insight Therapy and Wellness Collective in 2021 and now lead a team of clinicians who are cycle breakers turned cycle makers, committed to lifting as we climb.

Education & Professional Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience promoting psychosocial well-being for children in the fields of mental health and education. With a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Florida Atlantic University, Kimberley utilizes brain-based, body-based, and other evidence-based approaches to promote healing for children, families and communities through a trauma- and equity- informed lens.

With extensive training in trauma informed approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Child Parent Psychotherapy, and more, I am equipped to help individuals break cycles of trauma, isolation, and overwhelm and make cycles of Healing Resiliency and Growth.

As daughter to Jamaican parents, I am deeply passionate about promoting community healing throughout the Caribbean Diaspora, and as such, much of my work has focused on programming and interventions with the global Caribbean Community in mind.

Just for Fun!

If I didn’t become a therapist I would be doing this instead…

I probably would have gone to Med School and been miserable as a doctor OR I would have found my way to holistic mental health as an MD, which could be cool but also way more central to the medical industrial complex than I’d like to live my life these days… OR I would have become a business consultant OR been deep into a someones think tank OR in higher education leadership… all solid options, but I’m wouldn’t trade any of it for what I get to do every day!
