Soraya Carr, LMHC
Trauma-Informed Counselor

Is this you?
When clients first come to me, they often feel like they’re failing at the never-ending list of responsibilities—whether at home, work, or in relationships. They keep pushing through because they “can’t afford to fall apart.” If you feel overwhelmed by your to-do list and need a new approach to living a balanced life, I can help you find both productivity and peace. I’m here to guide you in building boundaries, letting go of guilt, and reclaiming joy.
My Approach to Wellness
I use a blend of evidence-based practices and trauma-focused approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Play Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. My goal is to help you rewire your relationship with your thoughts and feelings, release what’s no longer serving you, and set the boundaries needed for healing and self-care.

About Me

Identities I'd like to share
I’m a woman of color and a passionate advocate for women’s mental health and empowerment.
My Story
I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves a space to feel heard and understood. Growing up, I watched loved ones struggle with anxiety, grief, and trauma, without knowing where to turn. It inspired me to provide a space where others can find support and healing. My journey into mental health counseling was driven by a passion for helping people move through life’s challenges and find their inner strength.
Education & Professional Background
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. Over the years, I’ve gained experience and certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, which allow me to help clients reframe negative thought patterns and heal from past experiences. I’ve dedicated my career to supporting adults and teens through life’s challenges, with a focus on trauma recovery, stress management, and personal growth.
