Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which therapist is right for me?
Whether your priority is availability, areas of expertise or shared lived experiences, or other preferences, we make it simple for you to choose the right therapist for you. We begin with a consultation with our Clinical director, who will deeply listen to your concerns, help you develop your unique healing journey and provide a professional recommendation for your best fit therapist.
In addition, we’ve included in each therapist’s profile information on their typical availability, specialties, and identities. You can review each therapist’s profile and share your preferences during the initial intake assessment.
What should I expect during the first session?
During your initial assessment, a therapist will listen deeply to your concerns and how they are affecting your life. Through one or more therapeutic services, we will recommend a personalized journey to help you re-author your story and achieve your goals for healing.
How long is a typical session?
Intake sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.
Weekly individual sessions are typically ~50-55 minutes long.
Group Therapy sessions range from 60 – 90 minutes depending on the group format.
Group Coaching session lengths vary by program.
How often will I meet with my therapist?
Typically sessions are held once weekly. However sessions may take place twice weekly, biweekly or monthly depending on your support needs and financial priorities.
Is Group Therapy right for me?
Group therapy is a powerful and often accessible therapy option that offers social support and develops coping skills at a fraction of the cost of individual therapy. Individuals that benefit most from therapy groups are looking for a low pressure option for healing, a complement to individual sessions, or as a step down after completing individual therapy sessions. Also, groups are often a good option for individuals without insurance who are looking for an affordable way to access therapy. In addition to therapy, our practice utilizes a Group Coaching model, which we feel offers more flexibility with the type of support you can receive than the traditional group therapy model. Coaching sessions are not covered by insurance at this time.
Do you prescribe medication?
While we do not prescribe medication directly, we are happy to provide a referral or otherwise help you connect with a professional who is able to provide you with an evaluation and medication management. Speak with your therapist directly for more information.
How long will I need to participate in therapy before I feel better?
Everyone is different. We find that most clients report feeling relief after the first 1-2 sessions. Typically clients work with us 3 months for immediate concerns, 6-12 months+ to address root causes and multiple, complex concerns. This will discussed further during your intake assessment.
What should I do if I need to Cancel/reschedule my session?
You can cancel your appointment by logging into your portal and canceling the appointment, contacting our office, or contacting your therapist directly. Current clients can access their portal here
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy so we ask that you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Appointments that are canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a late cancellation/ no show fee of the full session fee, regardless of your insurance copay/client responsibility. We understand emergencies happen so 1 no-show/late cancel fee is waived per calendar year as a courtesy.
Do you accept my insurance?
Healing Insight LLC is currently an In-Network Provider for the following insurance companies:
- United Healthcare

What is the cost for each session?
These are the self-pay rates for sessions.
- Intake Assessment (60 minutes) – New clients start here $150
- Individual session (50 minutes) $150
- EMDR session (50-60 minutes) $150
- Supervision for licensure (60 minutes) $100-$150
- EMDR Intensives (90 min to 3 Half day intensives) $225 – $1800
Self-pay clients have the right to a “Good Faith Estimate” of costs for out of pocket services.
If you plan to use insurance for sessions, the actual price you pay (often called the client responsibility) ranges from $0 to the full self-pay fee for each sessions. It all depends on your specific coverage. We HIGHLY recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm benefits in advance of your free consultation or your first session.
Do you have an Out-of-network insurance option?
If you have coverage with insurance company outside of ones we have a contract with and would like to receive services with us at Healing Insight Therapy and Wellness, we are able to provide the necessary paperwork to your insurance company so that they may reimburse you. This means you would pay the full self-pay rate for the service and your insurance company would reimburse their rate for the service to you based on your out of network benefits and insurance company’s policy. Please keep in mind that our fee and their rate may not be the same. We suggest you contact your insurance company prior to services to ask about their out-of-network reimbursement options.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Consider asking the following questions to your insurance company prior to our first appointment:

- Do you cover therapy from Telehealth?
- What is my copay, coinsurance, and/or deductible?

- For out-of-network, what is the amount that you reimburse for the code 90837?
